Puyu Mincho is a Chinese Mincho typeface designed for screen use. It builds on the skeleton of traditional Chinese woodblock type, softening its sharper details into a rounder and quieter visual tone.

The typeface keeps a relatively narrow and tall character body, while reducing the strong stroke contrast often found in traditional Mincho forms. Raised terminals are toned down, folded corners are smoothed, and stroke endings are unified into a rounded finish.

Rather than recreating the elegance of historical woodblock printing, this project explores how a Mincho typeface can retain its structure and warmth while improving legibility on screen.
